Feb 2011: Hau`oli Lâ o Lono-i-ke-aweawe-aloha! (Happy Valentine’s Day!)

Hey, remember when the skies of Chicago got a bit cloudy for a few days and dumped, oh, I’d say about twenty-six inches of snow on our homes , power lines, cars, and schools? Oh right – we’re still digging out of that little blizzard.
The funny thing is, if you consult the news, the world nearly came to an end. “Thunderslush.” “Snowmageddon.” “The Snow To End All Snow.” There were CPS school closings, crises on Lake Shore Drive, territorial “dibs”-calling shovelers, Mayor Daley, snow plows… this list is beginning to sound like a Billy Joel song.
Now, here’s the problem: the blizzard got us off on the wrong foot. February may often be one of the snowier and cloudier months of Chicago life, but typically we find unity under our blankets of precipitation. Yes, Valentine’s Day is this month, and we will be celebrating with all the city’s lovebirds, but why pin the “amour” to only one day? Sola’s doors are open seven days a week for a delicious dining experience that celebrates Chicagoans for who they are. Executive Chef Carol Wallack and Chef de Cuisine Alex Shalev import the freshest ingredients from local farms and purveyors every day so that a fresh and irresistible meal is always just around the corner.
